Shortly before 5 pm dressed in their famous scarlet uniforms and wearing their bearskin caps the regimental band marched on to the designated parade area. They gave a stunning display of different formations whilst in marching formation playing a selection of stirring traditional military marching tunes

A few inventors had taken an interest in attempting to produce a workable drafting pen which had an inbuilt ink holding reservoir based on the principal of the fountain pen.
In America1892, Edmund Dickey patented a ruling pen with a hollow barrel section which could be unscrewed from the pens metal converging blades and filled with plan drawing ink, this invention did not prove to be a commercial success.

In 1914 Montblanc became registered as a limited company and the founding families operated the business as partners opening the first specialist Mont Blanc shop in Hamburg in 1919.

A hundred and five years ago in Berlin, in the year 1906, two resourceful businessmen joined together in partnership for the purpose of manufacturing fountain pens.
Engineer, August Eberstein, and merchant, Alfred Nehemias set up business from a small workshop based in Berlin, later joined by entrepreneur Claus Johanness VoB, who became the third partner and part financier.

In 1914 Montblanc became registered as a limited company and the founding families operated the business as partners opening the first specialist Mont Blanc shop in Hamburg in 1919.
The white star symbol over the top of the pen cap symbolising the mountain crest of snow was introduced as the company trade mark early in 1911, this was re designed in 1913 to become today's well known six pointed white star emblem

Firstly, I would like to say a belated big 'Thank You' to all the people who in the late 1940's, early 1950's were throwing away their fountain pens, believing that the new revolutionary cheap buy and throw away, when emptied, Biro Pens, were the modern thing's of the future that didn't need to be filled with ink. This is the main reason why these generally far superior quality classic old fountain pens are rare and hard to find in perfect condition today.

A lettercard with the original envelope handwritten by Elizabeth and posted from her address at Kinnerton Street London SW1.
Post stamp marked London June 21st 1982. Sent from one Lady to another, what is written by Elizabeth Taylor is respected as private.
Just a few lines about their subject under discussion, written in an informal and familiar manner just like one acquaintance might drop a few lines to another.
